Happy Earth day everybody!

Over here in Michigan today has been an absolute treat. Been doing yardwork and basking in the delightful rays. Today I also had the opportunity to record a video blog about wrestling, simply splendid. But fugitaboutit, we be blogging yooooooo. So in that spirit here are a few articles that will hopefully get your goat. so here weeeee go.

2. Pit yourself against another

Bewitched .com has a chess game that you can play against a supposed virtual intelligence (not possible at this point in civilian history but I still had to check it out) and it is pretty on point. The 4 games I played (not that that should be any indication of any skill on my part) I lost so maybe you take a stab at it? If you succeed leave a comment below and tell me about it!

Reality is a B: Movie Logic for possibly unhappy endiings...

Sometimes realty has got to troll you. Or is it logic? Or maybe both (or maybe Orton outta nowhere)? I don't know so don't ask me. I do love thought and perspective and that's why when I come across these types of articles (or fan theories) I get all giddy. This article though is slightly morbid. but, like I said, it is intriguing nonetheless. Here's #8 out of 10 for example: Fight Club.

8. The Narrator In Fight Club Is Finally Free Of All Burdens… And Is Going To Jail For The Rest Of His Life (Fight Club)

Fight Club is a movie designed to hurt your brain, but it also clings to a great twist that most of us didn’t see coming the first time we watched it. The narrator, Jack (Ed Norton), spends much of the movie interacting with a badass named Tyler Durden, who is played by Brad Pitt. Durden is everything that Jack wants to be, although it eventually turns out that Jack was Durden all along – he has two split personalities, see, one of which has been making him do awful things under the guise of a group calling themselves “Project Mayhem.”

One of these “awful” things is rigging huge explosives to a bunch of buildings downtown. In the movie’s iconic final scene, Jack finally rids himself of Durden by shooting himself in the face (hence, the defiant gesture alone is enough to “kill” this other personality). Jack himself survives this, though, and we realise then that he has overcome his anxieties, is able to embrace the woman he loves, Marla, and can finally take control of his life. Then all the rigged buildings explode outside as the pair watch from atop a skyscraper…

I agreee with this... mostly: 9 Movies That Made More Sense if You Followed the Viral Marketing

I just stumbled across an interesting article at IO9.com about a list on 9 movies whose viral-marketing campaign flesh out the stories (in some cases...better than the main narrative itself: the movie). For those who don't know what Viral-Marketing is I'll attach a brief description (according to wikipedia.org):

 marketing techniques that use pre-existing social networking services and other technologies to produce increases in brand awareness or to achieve other marketing objectives (such as product sales) through self-replicating viral processes, analogous to the spread of viruses or computer viruses (cf. Internet memes and memetics). It can be delivered by word of mouth or enhanced by the network effects of the Internet and mobile networks.^[1] Viral marketing may take the form of video clips, interactive Flash games, advergames, ebooks, brandable software, images, text messages, email messages, or web pages. The most commonly utilized transmission vehicles for viral messages include: pass-along based, incentive based, trendy based, and undercover based. However, the creative nature of viral marketing enables an "endless amount of potential forms and vehicles the messages can utilize for transmission", including mobile devices.^[2]

Critical Consensus: While I don't want to speak for Terry Gilliam, I'd like to think that we share a common view on hollywood and how people only want happy endings

I love Terry Gilliam (and I STILL need to see BRAZIL..FUCK! Jeff Bloomer and Trystam Muprhy-Fahlgren would be sooooo disappointed in me) and his movies. I love his devotion to his craft and I admire his never-say-die attitude. Realistically I need to get mine back so I can be unstoppable in the film industry, but I digress.... Mr. Gilliam released an interview for TCM (Turner Classic Movies) talking about a few biffs he has with Hollywood. Mainly it's just that we as an audience have gotten very used to having stories that wrap up nicely and don't leave room for interpretation or thought.
I agree with him, and although he doesn't blame the audience I partially do. Although we can't choose the crap dangled in front of us we can choose to bit or not and more times than  not we bite anyways... pssh who needs standards.  He makes a very good point though when using schindler's list. An although the title to the video is very misleading this isn't the focus of his interview, he just expresses how differently he would have approached the story.
