#2. James Gunn explain his CONTROVERSIAL decision to change SUPERMAN'S origin

Look, I'll tell you right off the jump that I am NOT A FAN of the change, like AT ALL. While I completely disagree with it I do understand WHY he chose to do it, and this article devles into that a little bit. If you don't already know though.... SPOILERS AHEAD

"On the director’s commentary for Superman, Gunn explained his decision to tinker with Superman’s iconic origin. In the 2025 movie, Superman is sent to Earth with a message from his parents, Jor-El and Lara. Kal-El believes the message he was given was to be a kind protector of Earth." -via SHH

In the director’s commentary for the film’s home release, Gunn revealed that in the scene where Clark Kent is walking into the Daily Planet’s office building, they used an old movie trick to make him seem bigger. Gunn noted that the scene features mainly extras who were about 5’6″ in height or under to help accentuate Corenswet’s 6’4″ frame. “One of the reasons we can see how big he is, is because I got all extras who were, I think, 5’6″ or under,” Gunn said in the commentary.

This is just a neat Behind the Scenes article for people like me who are fans of media productions and how things are done/made/filmed. It's not a long article or anything profound in we're being honest but it is still a neat tidbit into the process of it all.

BONUS ARTICLE BECAUSE I LOVE MR. TERRIFIC

It's no secret that Mr. Fantastic was the coolest part of SUPERMAN 2025, heck I'm just glad they did my boy justice. After being a fan and seeing him get ragdolled on ARROW I was skeptical about his participation in this movie....UNTIL I saw the first trailer, then I was all in. MY dude even has the coolest fight scene in the movie hehehe....... James Gunn has big plans for him too, check out this article if you wanna know more.

“I’ve got major plans for Mister Terrific,” the acclaimed filmmaker remarked. He then acknowledged the enthusiastic response the character received from fans, stating that it did impact Mister Terrific’s place in the DCU.
“Yeah, definitely it influences things. I don’t know, you’re going around the planet, you’re drilling for oil, and every once in a while you get a geyser—and you know Mr. Terrific is a geyser. He’s very popular,” Gunn said before adding, “When I see that sort of stuff, it makes a difference to me.”
