"After spending nearly three decades as one of the most enigmatic gems of cult classic horror, Event Horizon is finally getting a follow-up. The series is the latest from IDW Dark's line of cinematic expansions, but the 'untold origin' of Dark Descent set before the unforgettable film is sure to be the most anticipated for many. And after speaking with writer Christian Ward and artist Tristan Jones, the goal is clear: not just to deliver a wild ride for fans, but deliver "the story they didn't even know they wanted." via SCREENRANT
So....Ever since seeing EVENT HORIZON I've been absolutely in love with this movie. It was a refreshing take on both sci-fi AND horror and had a lot going for it-- A young Lawrence Fishburne, Lucious Malfoy, Doctor Grant..... I mean so MUCH potential. The story was twisted, the gore was intense and somewhere out there in a parallel universe there is an X-Rated version that didn't get shot down by the studio, BUT ALAS..... That is not why we are here. WE are here to discuss this upcoming prequel COMIC series. I'm soooo happy we get to see the HOW and WHY for the DARK DESCENT, I've always said it would be a really cool story to find out exactly WHAT happened before the events of the first movie (haha....EVENTs). I was always of the opinion that if done well and if done RIGHT a prequel could work VERY WELL in this series (and I always said they should approach it in the same way they did with THE THING's prequel) and nowwwww finally we get that story!
The Story will be composed of 5 issues (with Issue #2 releasing october 8th).
The article I'm linking here is a Q&A With the writer and Artist of the project and it gets pretty in depth while avoiding spoilers so IF you like Event Horizon I'd HIGHLY recommend checking it out from SCREENRANT
