Wait.......what?!? Update: Bill and Ted 4

 

SO in a move nobody asked for on a sequel nobody really wanted it turns out that........well.......... There's a 4th BILL AND TED on the way. um..... ok? This is like the announcement of the SECOND Simpsons movie 20 years too late (which like the first simpsons movie was 20 years too late), I mean I'm not opposed to it and I don't automatically hate it but I, uh, just.....why? Obviously the answer is MONEY but there has to be something else because Keanu Reeves isn't known for doing SCHLOCK, so I wonder exactly what piqued his interests here.... but enough of my biased opinion, let's get down to business (*resists urge to sing MULAN*)

So it turns out Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves are collaborating currently on a Broadway performance called "Waiting for Godot" and they had some time to sit down with variety and 'shoot the shi--' ya know what nevermind. But obviously when the two of them are together things goto one particular topic at oen point. Can you guess it?

Monday is usually a day of rest for Broadway. But instead of catching up on sleep, this season’s biggest stars were out in force at Variety’s Business of Broadway Breakfast to preview the fall’s buzziest shows. “I had a really great joke about the name of this breakfast,” said Ethan Slater, who hosted Monday’s event, presented by City National Bank. “I was workshopping it, but it took, like, seven years to develop, and we’re struggling to get the funding. Hopefully next season.”

What a bunch of wacky dudes and I love it. These guys are out there living their best lives, making people happy, producing entertaining stories, and basically just doing side quests at their leisure. I respect that. 

Samuel Beckett seems far removed from Bill and Ted, the two slacker buddies that made Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter famous, but the deep friendship forged by the duo while making the 1988 comedy “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure” and its two sequels was helpful in their stage dynamic in “Waiting for Godot.” “[Director] Jamie [Lloyd] remarked that our friendship, our history together, really suits the play because of the friendship and connection that two characters have,” says Winter.

I really thought there was going to be substance to this article and to be fair there is HOWEVER, my selective hearing is only here for one thing, BILL AND FREAKING TED. So, All of this to say this, I suppose:

Asked if they’d revive their buddy act and do a fourth “Bill & Ted” movie once their Broadway run ends in 2026, Reeves emphatically said, “Yes and yes.”

So first off.....sorry for wasting your time, this is inadvertently clickbait but I did it as a practical joke so I'm coming clean.....here......at the end.....after wasting your time. On the for reals though, I was SOOOO irritated when I read this, I sifted through the whole article (Which can be found here BTW) and the 'update' was just, what, 3 words ('yes and yes') god I hate journalism..... I mean yeah I did it too but I did it for laughs, not clicks. friggin internet articles I tell ya...but yeah the only update is that it's "happening" which really doesn't meany ANYTHING until something enter pre-production. Take em easy!
