TBT to 7/5/13: Meet the Chemist who discovered/invented LSD

Here's yet another Throw back Thursday Article, one again that I enjoyed stumbling upon and then subsequently sharing, and it was about the person who discovered/invented LSD and a little mini-doc behind it. If you've been following me a long time (So like maybe 15 of you might know lol) you'll know that I am a huge proponent of psychedelics. Even beyond their recreational hedonism they offer a myriad of medical applications including treatments for Alzheimer's and anxiety/depression. I also firmly argue in favor of the benefit of microdosing on the individual having had many positive inward breakthroughs due to it (plus also one of the best times I've ever had at an art gallery...the DIA)

But yeah...... all of that to say....... Continue reading to learn more! (Or go down the rabbit hole yourself for the road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom)

LSD, or lysergic acid diethylamide, was first synthesized in 1938 by Albert Hofmann, a Swiss chemist working for Sandoz Pharmaceutical. Although it was created in 1938, its hallucinogenic effects were not discovered until 1943 when Hofmann accidentally ingested a small amount of the substance. -Via WIKIPEDIA

So...........Just like last time, anything passed this paragraph is going to be a snippet of the OG article until we get a solid double line again... Enjoy!

          =============================================================

First off I want to assert my viewpoint in this argument: I'm all for psychedelics. Not for their overuse (because that leads to very dangerous things for your mind), but their spiritual potential. I've done mushrooms (psilocybin cubensis to be exact) more than a few times and I've had nothing but profound experiences. Even the 1 bad trip I had was an eye-opening subconscious journey. But this is a cool documentary that I'd like to promote and it is about the creator of LSD Albert Hoffman

"I had to struggle to speak intelligibly. I asked my laboratory assistant, who was informed of the self-experiment, to escort me home. We went by bicycle, no automobile being available because of wartime restrictions on their use. On the way home, my condition began to assume threatening forms. Everything in my field of vision wavered and was distorted as if seen in a curved mirror. I also had the sensation of being unable to move from the spot. Nevertheless, my assistant later told me that we had traveled very rapidly. Finally, we arrived at home safe and sound, and I was just barely capable of asking my companion to summon our family doctor and request milk from the neighbors.”
