That's right....that isn't a type.....nor is it cryptic, or trickery...... it is neither lible or rumor (how else can I say this....).It was announced today that Edgar Wright, will no longer be moving forward as director for the upcoming 'Ant-man' movie, starring Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas.
The reasoning behind this abrupt, jaw-dropping development was "due to differences in their vision of the film," according to a statement released by Marvel and Mr. Shaun-of-the-Dead. I, personally, am shocked. Edgar Wright has been attached this thing since 2006. I mean here I am just sitting at my computer, freshly off of working a hard day and BAM; There's an article about Ant-man on SuperheroHype. I didn't expect that at all.
My guess was that either a: There was too much money at stake, especially with the movie being a year or so away from release, so they needed a bigger 'name' director who they knew would definitely make the deadline or b: Wright's script was too far out, off beat, or didn't meld enough into the connectivity of the MCU (remember... this was going to be released as a stand alone movie originally. Like Iron man 1, Ant-man was going to be a one-shot movie... Like Dare-devil only not terrible, so in that respect the story might not have been what wright wanted to tell) which means, unfortunately, the show must go on.
It's a dang shame too because I would've loved to see Edgar Wright's version of this movie, especially because he has hyping it for sooooo long. It is just like when Darren Aronofsky departed 'The Wolverine' because imagine how bad ass (as well as depressing) that movie could have been. Either way.... sad day..... sad day.
