Oh boy…. Get ready for this one.
The Rose River trail has been my most anticipated trail since we started planning this trip in November, it’s always seemed the most evenhanded of our selections and as far as sightseeing goes it’s got a little bit of everything for everyone. So since about a month ago I have been even more eager to hike it, I was putzing around the inter webs and found out there was a cave cemetery there! Sooo cool. How friggin awesome. I was super jazzed for it, I mean how can you not be? Well here’s my tale of that…..
So we start to walk the path to get there and I don’t see any mountains or caves or hills or anything around….. just Forrest and a path. Ok it’s off the trail, big whoop let’s keep walking. And then there’s a big opening and a small cemetery so I figured it was just a part of the cave cemetery and we start to investigate. As we are looking around I notice the path dead ends into nothing and I’m very confused. Well one of the warm boyz, Kevin, notices that a lot of the tombstones have the same last name….. CAVE
So it turns out is is a small family cemetery, a historical plot spanning back to the early 1800s. So it was a CAVE cemetery and not. Cave cemetery…..get it? I can’t believe life threw a dad joke at me. Geeeeeze
