Our little lovable robot friend can be found at approx. 1hr 17mins-ish into the film.

I JUST FREAKING KNEW IT! I had a feeling that they'd do something LIKE this (maybe I didn't EXACTLY predict this but I figured they'd do another nod....not the same old SCHTICK...j/k I love it!) and I knew it was only a matter of time before somebody found it so here it is...


in case you didn't know too JJ ABRAMS is directing Star Wars and it has been joked that the first Star Trek (the reboot with Simon Pegg that is) was just his sizzle reel (which in the biz means video resume of hot stuff) to get the job should a new Star Wars ever emerge (then cue the awesome news last summer about episode 7!). Sidenote: ILM (industrial light and magic.... LUCAS' special effects company) did do the special effects on the first ST not sure about STID, so I'm sure this was their little nod to Star Wars in the most subtle yet nerd-rage way (If you notice, by and large, most people who love Star Trek don't mind Star Wars it's the Star Wars nerds that despise Star Trek.....insert broad generalization logical fallacy)

The first Star Trek reboot ALSO contains the same easter egg and I'll try to find the video on youtube so you can see R2D2 there as well (woohoo)
