Interesting article about cinematography and movie visuals

"Every Frame a painting"
I'm paraphrasing but I have heard this mantra iterated and reiterated in just about every film class or film study class I have ever taken. Kurosawa did it, Kubrick did it, and Hitchcock DEFINITELY DID IT. Lately I have become a big fan of my Boy Nicolas Winding Refn doing it... but I digress....
I stumbled on a few article pertaining to the subject and if you fancy yourself a film connoisseur like myself, you may enjoy this....although if youre a film buff chances are you already knows about this (cough cough... CITIZEN KAIN, Battle Potemkin.....) either way.... enjoy (I love any mentions of Akira Kurosawa because he is my favorite director of all time son)

1st up...... STANLEY KUBRICK
(after a brief aside about Akira Kurosawa....)

If you don't know about it him...you should. His films are marvelous and his influence is heavy in american pop culcture..... from A bugs life, to Star Wars, to Eastwood Trilogies, and even a hint of that Ghost Dog http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akira_Kurosawa

Narratives through memes: a fun exploit

Sometimes when you read something on the internet it is pure comedic gold, Sometimes when you see a meme you cant help but marvel at the clever brilliance. SOMETIMES.....the comments section of a hilarious and crude meme make the meme THAT much better while telling a subtle (and unintentional) narrative..... This is that explicit story.....
WARNING: vulgarity ensues beyond 'continue reading'..... proceed at own risk.

Here's something I am thankful for: People who have a keen sense of humor and are dapper with photoshop

I love Star Wars, we know this.... I love History, we may not know this.... I love comedy and humor, hopefully we know this..... I love when the three are blended in a clever and artistic fashion.... MY memory is a but fuzzy on WWII, you know.....considering I wasn't even born.....moreover, by dad wasn't even a gleam in his daddy's eye. But anyways...... Some Genius has decided to use their photoshop expertise and give the world a little gift, and I laughed....and was amazed with wonder

"But now I'm free. There are....no strings on me" Age of Ultron teaser leaks--impregnates the internet (and nobody is even mad bro)

So Wednesday I'm just hanging with my buddies (Nathan and Derek) and we are playing the Borderlands Pre-sequel (which is BA btw) and chatting and laughing and having a good time when out nowhere I receive a text from my cousin Dillon. Now Dillon doesn't typically text me so when he does it is usually important (like events about the family or extended family or keep me in the loop or even on occasion, maybe just talk. Mostly it is comic book or Marvel Cinematic related) so I already knew that it might be something important.

Alls it said was:

"Age of Ultron trailer leaked. here's the link : URLhere-yadayadayada"

and my world froze for a split second. hahahaha. over a trailer..... but c'mon... it's Marvel

IMMEDIATELY I TOLD DEREK AND NATHAN and immediately Derek's huuuuuge 60inch HDTV got high jacked as we searched and scoured the internet for the trailer (the website was down due to high traffic......gee I wonder why) and we found it. WE WATCH IT. We all got towels and sat back down. It was glorious. Glorious

Hulk Buster, Gollum (or the Andy actor who portrayed him). Scarlett witch and Quiksilver. ULTRON in Mark 1 to Vibranium Ultron (since they used 'adamantium' hes made out of Vibs.....thanks FOX) The beginnings of a Civil War arc.... my god it was glorious
Why is banner is a skintight shirt/make-shift straight jacket. And why Does is appear he has romance with Romanoff instead of Hawkeye and the Black Widow?

Then Marvel got smart. They realized the internet already got ahold of a poopy and low-resolution version of the teaser they were releasing in less than a week (it was slated to premiere of Agents of SHIELD) so they decided to make it official and please the world some more.

Dammit, Hydra.

COMIC CON!!!

Today was the annual MOTOR CITY COMIC CON. This year I went with my girlfriend Nancy, my buddy Jeff, my best buddy Nathan, My best buddy Derek and his girlfriend Dana. It was an awesome event. Filled with walking, energy drinks, talks of comics and things of nerdy natures, more walking, comics, peeing, comics, more walking, nancy shaking Ernie Hudson's hand and me peeing with Khal Drogo. I didn't take any pictures this year but you bet you're bottom dollar I'm going to post some pics from other cons.

Some notable guests include: Chris Claremont, Hershel and Shane from THE WALKING DEAD, Tommy the Green Ranger, The Nasty boys, "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, William Shatner, Ernie Hudson, Khal Drogo, that girl from SONS OF ANARCHY and many more that I can't recall.

I'm back and this is how I show it: Chris Columboe's SHIP WAS found....... after 500 years!

I won't even get started on the bullshit-star-spangled story of Christopher Columbus and his journey of discovering the 'new world' and how historically INACCURATE it is (do your research and draw your own conclusion) but I will say this: They found the Santa Maria after 500 years. There you have it..... that's the whole article summed up after the colon.

HOWEVER..... If, by chance, you happen to be interested in the details of this discovery you may want to continue to read. If you continue to read then you will be more informed than the 'summed up' reader, although truthfully you both still reach the same conclusion.

Thor Deleted Scene: It's loki doing chris evans..... NICE (spoiler?)

I found out about this on SuperHerohype.com:
(read their article here)
Empire has released a clip from the Blu-ray of Thor: The Dark World, which hits shelves February 25. In it, we're treated to an alternate version of Chris Evans' Captain America cameo but, unlike in the final film, this version features Tom Hiddleston in the outfit. That's because Evans' cameo was digitally inserted over the below footage and, on set, Hiddleston had the chance to don the suit and shield.

Awesome Sauce: fun for the whole family!

Random yet heartfelt

I just came across this story on facebook. It is incredible and awe-inspiring. About love and loss and how even the mortal plane cannot separate soul-mates. I wanted to share it with the world:

Grab the Kleenex!

The night before the burial of her husband 2nd Lt. James Cathey of the United States Marine Corps, killed in Iraq, Katherine Cathey refused to leave the casket, asking to sleep next to his body for the last time. The Marines made a bed for her, tucking in the sheets below the flag. Before she fell asleep, she opened her laptop computer and played songs that reminded her of "Cat", and one of the Marines asked if she wanted them to continue standing watch as she slept.
"I think it would be kind of nice if you kept doing it" she said.
"I think that's what he would have wanted".

-Not sure what is more honorable: Being married to this faithful wife to the end or the Marine standing next to the casket watching over them both.

I lost my grandpa last year. He died on February 16th, 2013.He was the most influential figure in my life (along with the unsinkable Sheryl Downs) and he was also a marine. It is a bond you never shake, even if you retire from the service, and they showed up at his funeral and played TAPS for him. Even now I think of him everyday and even now writing this my heart aches because I miss him. But this is just awesome plane and simple. It's a brotherhood for life.
Normally I'll post cynical, or sarcastic or comedic things on here (along with funny and many, many more descriptives) but this garners some attention.

We all knew it and were just waiting for confirmation: Vin Diesel is Groot! (finally!)

I was just reading an article over at superherohype.com (you know....the source of 90% of my movie info) and apparently Marvel just confirmed what all of us already had a firm handle on: Vin Diesel is officially playing GROOT the tree/alien/guardian of the galaxy. Speculation has hit the internet in the last few months and reports popped up about Diesel trying out stunt-stilt-work on the FAST & FURIOUS set. Also..... for you internet detectives out there: Last week the teaser trailer for 'Guardians of the Galaxy' leaked online. I managed to save it on my computer thanks to KEEPVID.com but I'm not going to compromise this blog and upload it but if you do enough digging I'm sure you can find it too! if not....you just SOL, sorry. Either way: Continue reading for more info and Marvel's Official groot press release

You need to KEEPVID this now before it gets taken down: Dark Crystal (super creepy) Director's cut

Superherohype.com had an article referencing this..... apparently somebody decided to add in all the original stuff the studios made Jim Hensen leave out

Though you probably saw The Dark Crystal as a kid, and you possibly still bring it up whenever someone is just trying to mention something about Legend or Labyrinth, it turns out you've never seen the version Frank Oz and Jim Henson intended. Their original cut apparently didn't test well with audiences, and the studio rightly worried it was a pretty confusing, freaky thing to show to children. So, like when they were forced to tone down Snuffleupagus's swaying scrotum, Oz and Henson had to concede to tame their creation. Among other changes, they recut and redubbed the film, adding expository voice-overs and changing the Skeksis voices from a bizarre, made-up language to English, preventing those guy from just being absolute terrors.
